O' The Weather Outside is Frightful

What a treat we got today! Our first snow in years. It wasn't a blanketing snow or anything, but it was so fun to see. We went out for a little while to play in it, but with such low temperatures and high winds, it quickly became much too cold for us wimps to handle. We're going to have to re-adjust to the cold winter temperatures.
While living in Kansas nearly six years ago, we got quite used to cold and sometimes harsh winters. You never really forget that painful burning chill that hits your ears and fingers when the temperatures dip below freezing. Today we were quickly reminded that we are going to be needing some warmer jackets and winter clothing items. I've been making Hannah and Mallorie wear their light jackets under their winter jackets in the mornings when the temps are in the high twenties. Tomorrow morning it's only supposed to be 19. I don't remember the last time I felt that kind of cold!

I have gotten so much shopping done in the last few days, but we went to the mall Saturday night and it almost put me over the edge! I can't handle the crowds anymore. I should have known better, but I was on a shopping buzz and not thinking clearly. I think I get the most stressed because I have three little munchkins to keep up with. I'll be sticking to shopping during the early part of the day from now on and only during week days. Or online.

Here you can kind of see our Christmas decorations on our house. We didn't go too crazy, but like I said the colored lights are growing on me. I'm more of a clear lights kind of fan, but not Rusty. I do love the big bulbs, they're fun. I don't know if you can tell, but the tree is wrapped with lights as well. Poor Rusty was out so late one night putting them up, he just wasn't happy with the way they looked and wouldn't quit messing with them until they were just right, ha!

It's hard to believe that Christmas is the weekend after next, but here it comes. I'm so behind on my Christmas cards, not even close to ready! I have to make them tomorrow and get them out by Tuesday. We have lots to do this week as we prepare to have my mom come to visit and celebrate a small early Christmas with the girls before we head to Texas. We made our menu tonight and it sounds so yummy. We're just going to have finger foods and desserts, it's kind of our normal. It's easy and yummy.

I hope you have a nice, easy Monday.
