This & That

Apparently Northern Georgia is not prepared for snow and ice. We're in day four of Snowpalooza 2011 and they've already cancelled school for the rest of the week. The reason we can't make it? Well, the temp won't go above freezing so the kids can't get to school because of the icy roads. The roads just aren't getting cleared. The sun came out today for a little while and the roads got all slushy, but if you look outside right now, they're all shiny and frozen again. There hasn't been an truck on our roads to clear or spread sand yet. I haven't left the house since Sunday afternoon because I am so afraid I will have a wreck and with all the kids and the temps being so low, I'd just rather stay safe and warm in my house. Can ya blame me? But I am definitely getting cabin fever.

Rusty made it to the airport this morning and said the road conditions were not good at all. Then his plane got stuck in a little ice on the tarmac(before he got on), but thankfully they were eventually able to take off and he made it to beautiful, warm, sunny Southern Florida safely. Did you know he hasn't even gone by the beach yet? I would go buy dinner and eat on the beach every night. I LOVE Florida beaches a lot. If you've never visited there, I would recommend it. The sand is sugary fine and white and just lovely. Can you tell I wish I was there right now? Ha! I am a little jealous.

We watched The Biggest Loser last night. It's a house fave (even though it's starting to get a little TOO dramatic, if that's possible). And since the girls didn't have school today, I let them stay up late and watch the ending that they always have to miss. Mallorie gets super motivated while watching that show and has been working out ever since. She made her own barbells with water bottles taped to the ends of a light up sword she bought at Stone Mountain last summer. She was mad because we wouldn't let her get the scale out of the garage so she could have a weigh in every week of her own. That isn't something I want my nine year old obsessed with right now. The working out is great, but the weight issue is one I want to avoid for a while.

They have a babysitters class at the Y that Hannah wants to take so she can start babysitting. I can't believe she's old enough to do that, but she's very excited to earn some of her own money. I told her she can start practicing by babysitting Ava, good plan, don't ya think?

As you can imagine I don't have much to talk about since we haven't been doing anything. Friday when it isn't freezing anymore I am getting out of this house. I don't even care if it's just to go to the grocery store, right now that sounds like fun! And on Monday when the kids are out again, this time for MLK day, Rusty will be off of work with them and we're just going to be going all day. I don't even want to see the inside of the house until it's almost time for bed!

I am thankful that I am able to sleep in a little this week and don't have to rush around in the morning to get the kids to the bus on time. I don't know how you homeschooling moms do this. Especially with the kids being different ages. I don't know what to do with them. They're doing a little school work online that their school offers and reading, so that's been fun. Tomorrow I hope to have them do some painting and craft projects.

I hope you are having a good week and not freezing your hineys off!!
