LITTLE Red Riding Hood

Here's Ava's Little Red Riding Hood costume. It's the first big thing I've made and I'm sorta, kinda proud. Of course, if you looked super close you would see my uneven stitches and my total mess up places, but I figured everything out and finished it and am pretty proud of it.

The hood goes on top of her head, but Ava wasn't feeling it at the time. I got the hooded cape instructions from Martha Stewart's page. I had a hard time following the directions listed on the page for the cape, but I was able to come up with my own. I wasn't 100% happy with the end results of the cape, but it will work. The fabric I used was felt, I thought it gave a nice soft and warm feel to the cape. And that it would hang well.
It fits all of my qualifications for a decent Halloween costume. What are my qualifications? Well, it has to look like at least 90% of what the original idea was in my mind. It has to fit. And lastly, well, there is nothing else, I'm just happy it fit.

Here's the dress portion. I didn't want to try to make anything too complicated, so I stuck to a simple pillowcase dress, that in my opinion she could wear on days other than Halloween. I got the pattern and measurements from Prudent Baby. Her instructions are so easy. This is the second dress I've made with her measurements. The first was for Becky's baby girl and it was itty bitty. I can't wait to see it on her.
Don't ya just love short little baby legs in tights? I just think they're so cute. I'll be sure and post pics of our Halloween, and I can't wait to see everyone else's kiddos. I love seeing all the costumes, they're so fun! Have a fun and safe Halloween!
